
What actually differs
A static unit cools by convection: cold air falls, warm air rises, and the cabinet reaches equilibrium slowly. A forced-air unit moves that air with a fan, so it recovers temperature faster after the door has been open and holds a more even temperature top to bottom.
Both hold food safely. The difference shows up under load and under heat.
The Indian ambient case
A kitchen that runs at 40°C or more for part of the year asks a great deal of a refrigeration circuit. Static cabinets in that environment recover slowly after each door opening, and a busy service opens the door often. Forced-air units are specified for exactly this: they pull the cabinet back to temperature between openings rather than drifting upward across a shift.
If the room is air-conditioned, or the unit is opened rarely, that advantage narrows considerably.
What you give up
Fans consume power, make noise, and are one more moving part to service. A static cabinet in a cool, quiet room is cheaper to run and has less to go wrong.
The honest rule: specify forced-air where the room is hot or the door is busy, and static where it is neither. Buying forced-air for a quiet, cool store room is paying for recovery you will never call on.
